The nearest airport is Ljubljana Jože Pučnik (LJU), about 35 minutes from Bled. Venice, Trieste, and Zagreb are all within a scenic two to three hour drive if you’d like to make a trip of it.

What to wear
Dress Code
For the wedding, we would love to see everyone get dressed up, formal attire is requested. For the ladies that means a long dress or a formal cocktail dress, and for the gentlemen a suit with a jacket, tie optional. We kindly ask for no jeans, and that you avoid very bright colors such as red, orange and pink.

Can I bring a plus-one?
Because we’re having a very small destination wedding with our closest family and friends, we’ve kept the guest list intentionally intimate. That being said, if your invitation does not include a plus-one, please check with us about making plans to bring someone. We’d love to chat with you about it!
Is the wedding inside or outside?
The ceremony will be outside, and dinner is planned for an outdoor atrium as long as the weather permits. It can get cooler once the sun goes down, so we recommend bringing a shawl or a jacket.
What time of day is the ceremony?
The ceremony will be late afternoon / early evening, with dinner and the reception to follow. We’ll post exact times here once everything is settled with the venue.
When should I arrive in Slovenia?
Our wedding is on Wednesday, September 8, 2027, and we’ll have optional group activities planned from Sunday through Tuesday for those who are able to join. Many guests are also choosing to extend their time in Europe before or after the wedding. While we’d love to spend as much time with you as possible, the only day your attendance is requested is Wednesday for the wedding!
When should I reply?
Please send your RSVP by February 1, 2027 so we can finalize numbers with the venue.
Travel questions
Do I need a visa?
Europe’s entry requirements are changing between now and 2027. The EU is rolling out a new border system, and travelers who don’t need a visa today, including US passport holders, are expected to have to apply online for an ETIAS travel authorization before they fly. It should be quick and inexpensive, but the rules are still being finalized, so rather than guess we’ll post exactly what you need here as soon as it’s settled. The one thing worth doing now is checking your passport’s expiration date and renewing it if it’s anywhere close.
What is the best way to get to Slovenia?
The closest airport is Ljubljana Jože Pučnik (LJU), about 35 minutes from Bled. There are no direct flights from North America, so you’ll connect through a European hub. Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Paris, Amsterdam and Istanbul all work well. It is often cheaper to fly into Venice (VCE), Zagreb (ZAG), Munich (MUC) or Vienna (VIE) and drive the rest of the way; each is a scenic drive of two to four hours, and a rental car makes the week by the lake much easier. If you’d rather not drive, shared shuttles and buses run from Ljubljana straight to Bled.
What will the weather be like?
Early September at Lake Bled is usually lovely. Days are sunny and in the low to mid 70s°F (22 to 25°C), and evenings cool to the low 50s°F (10 to 13°C). A passing afternoon shower is always possible, so pack a light layer and something warm for after sunset.
